A locker product built from scratch around QR-first interaction
This project delivered a fully custom locker solution for order drop-off and pickup, including intake logic, pickup logic, service functions, monitoring, and device-state control. A key design choice was that the locker worked without an embedded screen.
The whole customer journey was built around scanning a QR code on the device, which simplified the hardware layer while keeping the user flow clear and fully digital.
How the intake scenario worked
The customer approached the locker, scanned the QR code placed on the device, and was redirected to the order interface. After that, the system could open the required locker cell for dropping off the items.
- QR-based order start directly from the locker body.
- Transition into a digital order interface after scan.
- Automatic opening of the correct compartment for item drop-off.
- No built-in screen required for the customer workflow.
How pickup was organized
The pickup scenario followed the same QR-based principle. The customer scanned the code, saw which order was ready in the current locker, confirmed the opening action, and the system opened the correct door for collection.
- QR-based pickup flow at the device location.
- Visibility of the order prepared in that specific locker.
- User-triggered open command from the interface.
- Automatic opening of the correct compartment for pickup.
Service tooling, monitoring, and remote device support
The project also covered the operational layer needed to keep a hardware fleet running in production.
Device-side capabilities
The locker was designed as a combined hardware and software product with business logic, user interactions, and cell control working as one system.
Business and service value
The main value was the ability to run a convenient automated intake and pickup point without constant staff involvement, while still keeping serviceability and operational control.
